The
idea for Fremont Hills Country Club was first conceived in late
1956 by the Planning Commission of the town of Los Altos Hills.
The seventeen acre facility was the location of the old Shumate
Ranch. The 50 meter pool opened for use on Saturday, May 2,
1959. and was the site of the 1959 Senior Men's Swimming &
Diving Championship. The club house was built in 1962. In 1995,
the club completed a 4 million dollar renovation.
"The Fremont Hills Country club opened
its doors to a capacity crowd of 250 dinner guests Saturday
evening. The gala event marked the grand opening of the newly
constructed $200,000 club house in Los Altos Hills" Daily
Palo Alto Times, Tuesday, March 20, 1962.
